The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a short film Nov. 15 in Taipei City, to enhance local and international community understanding about the country’s humanitarian aid program for Ukraine, showing how the government has used aid donations.
The video outlines the amounts of aid and how this has been used in collaboration with Czechia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Funds were either given directly to Ukrainians within the territory or as contributions to projects for Ukrainian refugees in central or eastern European countries.
According to the MOFA, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, over 10 million Ukrainians were displaced and Taiwan civil society raised over NT$900 million (US$28 million) in aid for Ukraine. In addition to housing refugees and rebuilding infrastructure, donations were used for daily necessities, medical assistance and counseling.
The video, showing how Taiwan supports Ukraine in its fight for freedom, is available in both Chinese and English/Ukrainian language versions on social media platforms. (POC-E)
